| University UMC—Care Circles Our church family is growing and changing. There are many families who don’t know our “old” families and the “old” families don’t know who the “new” families are. Every family, whether “new” or “old”, has its own set of struggles. Helping each other is something we all need to do but can’t if we don’t know what those stressors are. So, it is with great excitement that the evangelism team announces the new ministry of “Care Circles.” Care Circles will help us all get to know each other better and to help one another when the need arises. Care circles will be composed of eight to ten families or individuals who communicate on a regular basis to develop nurturing relationships with people they might not associate with otherwise. One or two families can be the organizers to head up the contacts. Groups can get together for social events or just communicate by telephone or email. These groups support one another in times of crisis or in everyday struggles. Everyone can participate on some level whether by phone calls, fellowship, or helping in times of need. Establishing care circles provides a way to meet and nurture our church family. Goals and Objectives of Care Circles: To enhance communications among members of the care channels and the church To promote relationships among the people of the church To develop inclusiveness among church members with the goal of allowing no one to become isolated or overlooked. To support those in crisis situations To encourage inactive members to become involved Our goal is have 12 (like the disciples!) care circles. Would you like to lead a Care Circle? If so please contact Kelley or any of the coordinators listed below. Care Circle Coordinators: Rick and Bonita O’Rorke, Jack Mildfelt,Rick Dahl Your support of and participation in the Care Circles is appreciated! |
| Opportunities for Serving "The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."—-Mission Statement of the United Methodist Church What gifts could accomplish transforming the world? Typically when we talk about "gifts" it is translated into giving – money. Giving our tithes to the church is evidence of our commitment to the ongoing work of the church both locally and abroad. It is also evidence that we take our membership, or more importantly, our discipleship seriously. Spiritual gifts are God-given abilities to serve the church effectively. So as you think about "transforming the world" as a disciple, what gifts do you have that could lead to transformation? Many scriptures make mention of the gift of giving. That those who have the gift of giving; should give generously! Both types of giving—our talents and our resources--are need within and beyond the congregation. Gifts of money and the spiritual gifts are needed to equip the saints for the work of ministry and to build up the Body of Christ. And each believer should use their gift according to the grace that they have been given. With this being said, please take the time to fill out the “opportunities for service” forms and let us know how you feel you can best serve the church this year. The Lay Ministry team (Nominations) will soon be meeting to fill teams and committees for 2012. Filling out the service form is important, even if you do not feel that team membership is right for you. Your selections help team leaders and members know who to call for those special missions and ministries that are worked on through-out the year. Happy with where you are currently serving? Please let us know by filling out the form. Forms may be returned to the office or in the offering plate. Thank you for your support! |
